Retirement Investments

Retirement Investments – Essential Points by Square One Financial Planning
Any type of investment could be classed a a Retirement Investment but if there was ever a time for an investment to be made wisely, then this is it. There are the usual routes that are open to anyone who is planning a retirement investment such as a Pension Plan for example, but many other types of investment could fall under this umbrella.
So what are some essential things you should know about retirement investments?
1. One thing to point out is that if an investment opportunity looks too good to be true, then it most likely is. There are many not so reputable organisations who are well aware of the massive market for retirement investments and to say you should be wary in your investigations is something of an understatement. Without wanting to sound like an alarmist, it really is important that any advice regarding retirement investments is from a trusted professional.
2. The most popular and well known type of retirement investment is obviously the pension. It used to be the case that a final salary pension would be a benefit of a great many occupations but that sadly is no longer the case and the amount of companies that offer this valuable benefit are few and far between.
3. The personal pension is now one of the most popular retirement investments and as already mentioned, there are so many different types on the market that it really is important that you take first class advice before you make your final decision.
4. Another type of pension that is becoming increasing popular is the self invested personal pension or the SIPP as it is more commonly known. A SIPP is basically a vehicle in which you choose your own investments for your personal pension. This is usually in the form of shares but they can also be used to purchase commercial property and other slightly more unusual forms of pension investments.
5. Some people may choose to make their own investments and savings throughout their life to provide for a Retirement Income. With the buy to let trend over the past few years, it has often been the case that individuals have relied on buy to let property for their nest egg but unfortunately, many people have had their fingers burnt and are now wondering what they will do to provide for themselves in their later years.
6. It was the opinion of many unqualified ‘experts’ that houses would continue to rise in price indefinitely and investors just could not go wrong. But just as we said at the beginning of this article, if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is! It is far more advisable to base a retirement investment decision on cold hard facts and stack the odds in your favour so that your investment is based on solid foundations rather that some kind of get rich quick scheme. The returns may not make front page news but they will be something that you can at least base your plans around.

35 Keys to Financial Independence: Finding the Freedom You Seek $16.99 In simple and easy-to-understand language, author Rich Brott explains that financially, you must “live below your means”. If you have been living above your means, you are already in serious debt with no hope of becoming debt free unless you quickly change your financial habits. If you have been living within your means, you may be debt free, but you have little or no savings or investments to carry you through your retirement. What you must begin to do is live below your means. The book will show you how to do just that.Once you’ve accomplished the basics of getting out of debt, staying out of debt and continuing to live below your means, then the next big hurtle is to set financial goals that will keep you invested in simple, well-diversified, conservative investment vehicles. The only way to reach a financial goal is to work at it. The most important step in reaching that goal is to develop a plan to achieve it. That’s why it is so important to plan ahead for your retirement and your financial future. While the idea of planning ahead and building a solid financial strategy for success can sometimes be intimidating and overwhelming, once you get started, it will become easier. With a little planning and a better understanding of what your investment options are, you too can successfully manage your money and pursue your financial goals. |

Aganomics $19.95 So what is AGANOMICS? Well, aside from a self serving play on my last name and obvious attempt to use a familiar term associated with our 40th president to catch your eye, it is “the” answer for people who know they need to prepare for retirement but dread all of the work involved. Simply stated, AGANOMICS is a shortcut. Why write it?70 million potential readers need this book! This is the number of baby boomers that will be retiring over the next 20 year who have virtually no clue how to successfully make the transition from working to retirement. Unfortunately, today, the vast majority of financial advisors and firms are not very well versed in this area. They attempt to position themselves as “the people” who will help clients transition into retirement, but the simple fact is that they are generally only prepared to talk about investments. However, for most in retirement how well they live has little to do with how their investments perform. Why… because this is NOT where the money comes from: Social Security – 39%Continued employment – 26%Pensions – 19%Personal savings – 13%Other – 3% Source: Social Security administrationSo we have a problem…the entire industry is chasing the wrong numbers (the 13%). However, this also presents an opportunity. Aganomics is different because it looks at all sources of income and allows virtually anyone to put together a plan that works. How? Simple, it tells them what they need to know and more importantly what they need to do! In addition to examining what really matters AGANOMICS gives readers an easy to follow process that shows them, step by step, how to build a plan that they understand and can easily implement on their own… in 90 minutes! This is crucial because the reason why the majority of people do not plan is because they do not want to take the time. AGANOMICS just asks for 90 minutes…Why it will sellOvercoming the apathy and natural |
