Retirement Funds

retirement funds
Why not take from the Senators Retirement Funds to payback the people’s retirement (SS)govenment took from us?

It is somehow corrupt to take our retirement (otherwise known as social security) and use it for other programs then tell we the people we are out of money for our old age. Why is this never addressed for what it is? You can simply replace what was taken from SS with money from the Sentators Retirement Fund. We the people pay that as well.

Don’t forget the Congress people. They’re in it too.

 50 Psychological Experiments for Investors

50 Psychological Experiments for Investors

$13

Saving well is anything but an intuitive process. One must be capable of deciding how much to save each month and in what instruments to invest those savings. These are the basic decisions which determine the wealth of the individual, household, or family in the long-term. Reactions, either instinctive or bred by personal experience, do not always provide the golden rule for navigating the tricky waters of financial decisions. Arguments which seem to be a matter of common sense may in fact be folly. Emotions can lead to confused decisions or prevent wise choices. In the end, unconscious imitation and social comparison encourage the duplication of plans whose efficiency is far from sure. But all is not necessarily lost. A confrontation of the opposing points of view of economics and psychology has given birth to a new area of research, called behavioral economics, which elucidates how people in the real world make their economic decisions. This dynamic new discipline was endorsed by the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Economics to one of the discipline’s originators, Daniel Kahneman. Since its beginnings in the 1980s, it has highlighted clear differences between the economic and financial behavior of real individuals and what they would do if they were completely rational. An impressive volume of studies conducted worldwide now draws a clear picture of the investor and the personal faults that prevent him from performing. In this book, a little over 50 experiments run by scientists on different psychological factors affecting investment decisions are presented. The most important questions are treated: allocation of income to savings, planning for retirement, choice between assets, selection of mutual funds, appetite for real estate, hesitancy to invest in stocks, gender differences, and so on. Mentioned too are anecdotal aspects of the problem, such as the Monday blues which take hold of the grumpy and overcautious side of the investor at the start

7Twelve: A Diversified Investment Portfolio with a Plan

7Twelve: A Diversified Investment Portfolio with a Plan

$20.72

While most investors would agree that diversified, low-cost investing makes great sense for everyone, the reality is that the average investor has very little experience building a diversified investment portfolio. Most investors end up cobbling a few different mutual funds together, resulting in a portfolio that lacks true diversification. 7Twelve shows you how to build a diversified, multi-asset portfolio using “7″ core asset classes (or investment categories) by utilizing “Twelve” underlying mutual funds. Author Craig Israelsen clearly explains just how easy it is to manage a successful portfolio with a plan, rather than managing your money piecemeal. His three key guidelines in the 7Twelve recipe are deceptively simple: select 12 different ingredients (such as mutual funds), allocate your investment equally among all 12 funds, and rebalance the 12 funds on a periodic basis, such as annually. Israelsen describes in straightforward and ready-to-apply terms what your portfolio should look like and outlines how to make it a reality for you. In 15 succinct chapters, he takes you step by step through the process of building and managing a portfolio that optimizes performance and minimizes risk. He begins by demonstrating how diversification is actually achieved and introduces various ways to meaningfully measure portfolio performance. He then outlines how to actually build and manage the 7Twelve portfolio—from periodic rebalancing to changes in the asset allocation over the life cycle—and specifically addresses the all-important issue of portfolio durability during the retirement years. Israelsen also presents research that sheds light on some of the most-debated topics among investors: value versus growth, active versus passive investing, and some of the perplexing problems in many target- date mutual funds. Better risk-adjusted performance is the key benefit of building broadly diversified investment portfolios, and only by
